Precision Medicine in Gastroenterology

At Ignite Biomedical, we're tackling one of the most challenging chronic conditions affecting millions worldwide: Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). IBD, which includes Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, is characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. This relapsing condition can cause severe symptoms like abdominal pain, diarrhea, and weight loss, significantly impacting patients' quality of life.

We understand that current treatments, while beneficial for some, leave many patients without long-term relief. That's why we're leveraging our partnership with Liquid Bioscience and their cutting-edge Emerge® AI platform to revolutionize IBD management. Our approach goes beyond traditional therapies by developing precise Treatment Response Predictors (TRPs) for IBD medications.

Our goal is clear: to address the critical challenge of treatment non-response in IBD. With current therapies, a significant number of patients either don't respond initially or lose response over time. By utilizing our AI-driven biomarker discovery process, we're working to create personalized treatment plans that can:

  • Predict which patients are most likely to benefit from specific IBD treatments
  • Reduce unnecessary medical interventions and their associated side effects
  • Minimize healthcare waste
  • Improve long-term patient outcomes

At Ignite, we're not just developing tests; we're pioneering a patient-focused approach to managing IBD. Our mission is to provide clinicians and patients with objective, data-driven decision support tools that can transform IBD care, moving us closer to the promise of true precision medicine in gastroenterology.

What is IBD?

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a group of chronic conditions, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, that cause inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms can include abdominal pain, diarrhea (sometimes with blood), fatigue, weight loss, and malnutrition. IBD is caused by an abnormal immune response and can lead to severe complications if untreated.
